Steaks, Roasts, Ribs and Ground Beef.

 

The average “hanging weight” of 1/4th beef is 120 to 180 lbs.

 

You can generally expect approximately 85 to 100 lbs. of packaged meat.

 

A rule of thumb is to expect:

 

20-25% “Steaks”

Rib Steaks (Ribeye), T-Bone, Sirloin Steaks or Sirloin Tip Steaks, Flank Steak and Brisket

 

25-30% “Roast, Ribs and Stew Meat”

Arm Roast, Chuck Roast, Rump Roast

 

40-50% “Ground Beef”

Freezer space is approximately 1 Cubic foot of space per 35lbs of packaged meat.

(Small chest freezer is needed)
