The average “hanging weight” of a whole beef is 600 to 720 lbs.

 

You can generally expect approximately 300 to 425 lbs. of packaged meat. Depending on Size and Cuts!

 

A rule of thumb is to expect:

 

20-25% “Steaks”

Rib Steaks (Ribeye), New York Strip Steaks, Filets (Filet Mignon), Sirloin Steaks or Sirloin Tip Steaks, Flank Steak and Brisket

 

25-30% “Roast, Ribs and Stew Meat”

Arm Roast, Chuck Roast, Rump Roast

 

40-50% “Ground Beef”

Freezer space is approximately 1 Cubic foot of space per 35lbs of packaged meat.

(Medium chest or Upright freezer is needed)
